TEN REASONS TO ADOPT NATURAL SOAP!
THE QUESTION THAT MOST OF THE PEOPLE WHO DISCOVER OUR ARTISANAL SOAP PRODUCTS PROBABLY ASK THEM MOST:
“WHY IS NATURAL SOAP BETTER? »
While many of these “reasons” apply to most natural handmade soap companies, the reasons identified stem from the practices, values, vision and ingredients that are integral to the business. Savonnerie the little sweetness.
1. NATURAL HANDMADE SOAP IS REALLY SOAP
As you walk down the aisles of the grocery store or pharmacy, you will see several body "soaps" to choose from, labeled as body bars, body washes, cleansing bars, treatment bars or beauty bars. Unfortunately, all These products are just detergents in disguise.
Most of the soap you buy today is a cocktail of chemical ingredients. Today, there are very few real soaps on the market. Most body washes, liquid or solid, are actually synthetic detergent products. Detergent cleaners are popular because they foam easily in water and do not form gummy deposits. Some of these detergent products are actually marketed as "soaps" but are not true soaps according to the regulatory definition of the word.
The best known traditional soap is probably Marseille soap which is made from vegetable oils such as olive oil.
2. NATURAL SOAP IS MADE WITH NATURAL INGREDIENTS
One of the best reasons to use natural soap is the ingredients. A product is only as good as the ingredients used to make it, right?
Each of our soap recipes begins with a blend of certified plant-based original oils and butters that are nutrient-rich and skin-nourishing. Our main natural ingredients for our soaps are olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil, rice bran oil and shea butter.
To make each soap unique, we then add a variety of natural clays, herbs, seeds, grains, spices, flowers, cocoa and essential oils. These additions naturally create color, aromatherapy, texture or gentle exfoliation for our soaps.
The result of our manufacturing process is a gentle, rich, moisturizing soap that feels creamy in your hands, provides a rich lather that lasts, and leaves your skin clean, soft, hydrated, and healthy.
Your skin will notice the difference!
3. NATURAL SOAP DOES NOT CONTAIN THESE INGREDIENTS…
Our soap bars only contain the ingredients they need. They are therefore free of chemical preservatives that liquid body washes or commercial bars require to increase their shelf life to several years, and also of foam boosters to make them lather.
Our natural soaps DO NOT contain:
- synthetic ingredients
- artificial colors
- detergents
- synthetic preservatives
Gentle, skin-safe ingredients mean natural soap won't dry it out or cause skin irritation often seen with synthetic ingredients.
4. NATURAL SOAPS ARE MOISTURIZING
There are three main reasons why natural soaps are moisturizing:
- Natural soaps are made with vegetable oils and buttersNatural soap made with ingredients derived directly from nature is a rare commodity these days. Harsh synthetic detergents in commercial soaps may be great for dishes and laundry, but they strip the skin's natural oils which cause drying the skin and can contribute to irritated skin conditions like eczema.2) Natural soaps have a “superfat”
Our soap bars are formulated with lots of additional plant-based oils and butters in a process called "superfatting."
Superfatting is the process of adding extra fats (oils or butters) when formulating a soap recipe, so that there is more fat in the mixture than the lye can turn into soap during processing. chemical saponification reaction.
This process leaves some of the oils unprocessed in the finished soap, ensuring that our natural soap bars have superior moisturizing and emollient qualities.
Since adding additional oils and butters can shorten the shelf life of a bar of soap, commercial soaps sacrifice moisturizing properties for shelf life.
3) Natural soaps retain their natural glycerin
Glycerin is not added to a natural handmade soap recipe – it is created during the manufacturing process! The chemical reaction of making soap is called saponification. Once saponification is complete, the ingredients combine and chemically transform into soap, glycerin, and a little water.
Glycerin, a valuable and gentle emollient, is a humectant that draws moisture from the air to the skin creating a hydrating protective layer.
In short, the skin-nourishing ingredients, plus superfatting and natural saponification create a bar of soap full of hydrating natural oils and natural glycerin!
5. A SOAP USED BY ALL SKIN TYPES.
Classic solid soaps have a reputation for drying out and tightness of the skin after a shower. Which is not the case for cold saponified soaps which are rich in glycerin, a natural emollient that hydrates and softens the skin. Thus, these cleansing treatments are suitable for all skin types, even sensitive, reactive or allergy-prone skin can use superfatted soap all year round.
In fact, the latter is free of stripping products and perfume, and contains more moisturizing and nourishing agents than a caustic soap. Even baby's fragile skin also has the right to use a superfatted soap (if it does not contain essential oils). In addition, superfatted soap can be used for body and face cleansing.
6. NATURAL SOAP HELPS MAINTAIN HEALTHY SKIN
The body's largest organ, our skin, is incredibly porous and absorbent. How we treat our skin can have a major impact on its appearance and our overall health.
Since our beginning, many people have told us that our natural soap has not only helped improve their skin, but also their lives by relieving itching, dryness and decreasing skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and acne.
Some people with “sensitive skin” actually have skin that is sensitive to all the chemicals in their body care products. Our natural soaps tend to be more soothing for many skin types.
Everyone wants healthy skin and your skin doesn't like synthetic chemicals. If you're having trouble finding a soap that won't irritate your skin, switching to using a simple natural soap every day is an easy place to start. Your skin will see the difference!
7. NATURAL SOAP PROVIDES RICH LABHER WITHOUT SYNTHETIC BOOSTERS
People love moss! People often associate the cleaning properties of our soap with the amount of suds it produces, but it's not related. The soap doesn't need to create a lot of lather to do its job.
Thanks to marketing, big companies now know that people make this association so they ensure that the customer is satisfied! The foam and bubbles in commercial liquid soaps and bars are produced by surfactants – synthetic foam boosters, foaming agents and detergents.
These chemicals are often petroleum byproducts like sodium lauryl sulfate and its cousins, are very inexpensive to add to body washes, and are also drying to the skin.
A properly made natural bar of soap does not need synthetic additives to create lather or to clean because soap is a natural surfactant. So, not only does it create lots of bubbles and foam, but it also helps clean oily dirt from your skin naturally.
Ingredients such as coconut oil, castor oil and glycerin naturally produced by saponification also help create a rich, silky lather.
8. NATURAL SOAP IS ECONOMIC
At la petite couverture, we know that choosing to buy our soaps is also an economical choice. This is why, despite having
Choosing to make our products with the best possible ingredients, we want our products to remain accessible to as many people as possible.
As much as we want it, our soaps can never be at the same price as the big commercial brands. Commercial soaps contain synthetic ingredients which are very cheap to produce in the laboratory whereas we have chosen natural ingredients.
On the other hand, even if a priori, natural soaps are more expensive than commercial bars, when we look at the overall picture, this is no longer so true!
On the other hand, even if a priori, natural soaps are more expensive than commercial bars, when we look at the overall picture, this is no longer so true!
Large soap companies don't want extra oils or glycerin in their soaps because they reduce shelf life. Without this extra superfat to hydrate your skin, you have to fall back on the bottle of lotion or moisturizer, which increases the cost of your purchases!
Additionally, as you now know, many of the synthetic ingredients needed to create foam, colors, fragrances, and years of shelf life are known to be skin irritants. If your soap is causing skin irritation, simply switching to a natural soap can reduce visits to the dermatologist or prescription products to treat these skin issues.
On the other hand, if you are using a liquid shower gel, the main ingredient is water. So you are paying partly for water! A bar of soap has very little water remaining, which means you are really paying for the product you want and need.
Natural handmade soaps may cost more initially, but they offer many benefits for your skin. Simply read our soap ingredient labels and compare them with those of commercial bars to realize the big difference in the quality of the ingredients.
As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for with our products!
9. NATURAL SOAPS ARE UNIQUE
The fact that our soaps are handmade and in small batches allows us to be creative and offer a wide range of original and very high quality soaps.
We can also afford to innovate by adding new ingredients, rare or unique local ingredients and creating new seasonal products. This is what makes artisanal soap makers like ours interesting for those who want to try a variety of locally made natural soaps.
10. An ecological and economical gesture.
Choosing a natural soap means doing something for the environment. In fact, natural superfatted cold saponified soaps are entirely biodegradable. Their manufacturing method does not present no significant biological impact. The raw materials used are also not polluting. As cold saponification is a slow reaction, it requires little energy. Furthermore, natural soaps are quite economical compared to liquid soaps. They are packaged in cardboard packaging or recyclable or biodegradable paper bags. Some are even presented naked.
